Our Mission
We seek to enlighten the culture so that each individual can elevate and evolve, resulting in collective emancipation.
“In order to truly evolve and elevate, one must be conscious of the energy within that empowers us. This inner-g is the God inside all of us”.
— Mario Redding
Who is Mario Redding?
I am a spiritually conscious being, aware that a supreme source exists in the universe to which I am deeply connected. This higher power has guided and protected me through many adversities.
At an early age, I was abandoned by my parents, who fell victim to their vices of crack cocaine and alcohol. Despite this loss, I was blessed to be raised with an abundance of love by my grandmother, Mrs. Joyce Redding.
My childhood friend, and now wife, Mrs. Destinee Redding, has supported me since the day we met, offering holistic support, even throughout my entire prison sentence. We were married in 2016 during a visitation.
While I was still incarcerated, we co-founded We the Negus, a nonprofit organization created to bring attention to the culture from which we come. Our mission is to inspire and influence those living in poverty and in prison. We aim to educate individuals so they can elevate and evolve into their true royal essence.
I later lived with my loyal aunt, Kimberly Redding, in a neighborhood known as Cliffview. It was there that I became involved in hood affairs and eventually began selling drugs. Although illegal, this experience allowed me to exercise my entrepreneurial skills and temporarily escape poverty. However, the crimes I committed led to a maximum and consecutive prison sentence of 18 years—banished to a cage just a year after graduating high school. I was sentenced to nine years for drug trafficking, eight years for vehicular homicide, and one year for a firearm offense.
During the 6,175 days I spent incarcerated, I became an avid reader, studying over a thousand books. I also developed my passion for writing by keeping journals that documented my journey through the nine institutions where I was held. This time of reflection and growth has led to my first book, Rich Negus in the Hood, which is currently in the process of being published. Inspired by my life experiences, the book is intended to motivate others facing adversity, encouraging them to recognize their worth and rise to claim their throne. My goal is to enlighten people, helping them emerge from darkness in a holistic way.
Upon my release after serving 17 years, I immediately began investing in real estate, acquiring two properties within my first two months of freedom. Providing for my family was my top priority upon re-entering society.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ashland University, where I graduated Cum Laude, and I am also a certified paralegal, having completed my studies at Ohio University.
Through various endeavors, I have turned nothing into something, building a resilience and perseverance that help me overcome any hardship. My ability to hustle makes me an asset in any room, and my ambition ensures that success is inevitable.
Who is Destinee Redding?
I was raised in East Cleveland by my grandmother, Julia Witt, a loving and strong-willed woman who instilled in me a deep faith in God. Julia provided unwavering support during my childhood, especially as my mother struggled with addiction and my father was absent.
I grew up quickly, taking on responsibilities at a young age, including caring for my younger sister. By the third grade, I was already cooking, cleaning, and babysitting. Julia’s teachings of love, loyalty, and faith laid a strong foundation in my life. However, despite the nurturing environment provided by my grandmother, I found myself drawn into a turbulent lifestyle at an early age, influenced by a longing for the parental love I missed.
As a teenager, I encountered challenges that led me into unhealthy relationships and risky situations. At fifteen, I meet my best friend and future husband, Mario Redding, in our neighborhood of Cliffview. We graduated together from Shaw High School, but shortly after, Mario was sentenced to eighteen years in prison for drug trafficking and aggravated vehicular homicide. This period of separation ultimately strengthened our bond. I remained fiercely loyal, visiting him regularly and supporting him through his lowest moments.
Mario’s growth during his incarceration had a transformative effect on me. Inspired by his evolution, I began to shift my focus towards self-love, respect, and personal goals. His influence was pivotal in shaping the person I am today.
While I took some college courses, I found that traditional higher education wasn’t my path. Instead, I pursued real estate classes that provided me with valuable knowledge. Over the past 17 years, my entrepreneurial spirit has flourished. In 2020, I founded Real Negus LLC, successfully scaling it to profitability. I also invested in stocks and real estate, becoming a landlord. Additionally, my catering business, Food Trafficking, allowed me to further explore my entrepreneurial passions.
Driven by a desire to uplift others, I established a nonprofit organization, We The Negus Inc., aimed at empowering individuals living in poverty and those impacted by incarceration. Through my various ventures, I remain committed to making a positive difference in my community.
